There’s a love of mountains woven into my blood. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of a little house nestled amongst the mountains—a vision, no doubt, shaped by my childhood and the happiest moments spent on our family’s farm in the Cederberg. The morning sun stretching out over the burnt orange berg marked the best part of every day. Little House and the Berg (meaning mountain in Afrikaans) is a nostalgic look both backward and forward, capturing that lasting sense of connection to mountain and home.
I loved the meditative quality that came through each line, and the composition’s quiet simplicity holding a space for both memory and longing.
